Kunin, Roussanne, 2009, Central Coast, California
This is sleek too cool for school Roussanne from this up and coming Santa Barbara-based winery. It is medium clear cloudy in color and has a nose of banana chips, pears, and honey on the nose. The lovely pear/honey combo carries through on the flavor profile as well. Surprisingly lean for a California white, this wine makes up for it in complexity and originality. Citrus and olive oil cake round out the flavor palate. A subtle background bitterness is good counterweight but might put this wine in the not for everyone category That's okay. More for me.
